If you have the XBox 360 Controller or you already have your original XBox controller already connected to your computer, you can go to the next step.
What you'll need now (apart from the controller ofcourse) is a way to connect it to your computer. There are two ways to do this. You can order a USB adapter for your computer (very cheap, $10-$20 for a 4 port USB multi-tap) or if you prefer, you can build your own adapter. (You don't have to take your controller apart!)
Under 'Required Hardware', one link shows you where to get the best deal for an Xbox USB adapter, and the other has free instructions on how to build your own.
OK! Now that your controller is hooked up to your computer, you'll need a driver to have it properly recognized by Windows. Download the recommended XBCD and follow the instructions.
All Done? Perfect. The controller will now work flawlessly under games with native gamepad support.
